Howdy! Name is Jim Harfst and just signed up to the forum. I live in Starkville (work for MSU) and saw a jeep in town with the jeep club decal on the side. quick Google and I found the site. I was wondering if there was a club around here. Now for the details. I have 78 CJ5 pretty much stock w/ I6 and a 79 CJ5 Renegade for parts for the 78(304 V8, new tranny, limited slip rear, other misc parts that have rusted off the 78). Got a wife and three kids and live north of Starkville near Pheba. Will find pics and post them soon. The 78 is my daily driver and bright yellow so you can't miss me driving around town (usually with the kids - they love it).

I just saw a bright yellow CJ earlier today parked in Allen hall parking lot. Was that yours? Looks pretty nice. Who's jeep did you see with the club sticker? Welcome to the site. Hope we all get to go ride some soon. -RC

Yep. That's mine. Not too bad since the basic jeep was free. A guy gave me the jeep because it had a hole in the block then I acquired another 258 for no cost and installed it. So, I got into jeeping for very little cost. If I'd known how much fun it was, I would have done this a long time ago. I'm on a project to replace as much of the rusted out sheet metal as possible so it's in various stages of body work. Once I get that done, it's on to mechanical. Plan to harvest parts off the Renegade, rebuild them and then install them on the yellow jeep. That way I can have as little down time as possible. Since I don't have a top, it's my daily driver during the warm/dry months.
Don't know who's it was that I saw. It was a black one parked on Jackson St. across from Cadence Bank.

Hey guys my name is Brandon Deer and i just moved to starkville for my freshman year of college, i'm from ridgeland. My Jeep is a white 99 TJ on 2.5 ton rockwells and 41 inch michelin XLs, its a work in progress i just got it up a few weeks ago, as soon as i can afford it and have time to do the work i'll be getting some 44's a new steering pump and reworking the bumpstops and a few other things. Here is my TJ before the rockwell build, it had 100" wheelbase, 4 link rear, 37 boggers rear and 36tsl's up front and this is it now, best pic ive got unfortunately, ive only had it out once since i got it going.

Brandon - great sounding rig! Is this your daily driver while you are in college? If so, you shouldn't have any trouble creating a parking place. I have a buggy on Rockwells and 44's and I say don't waste your time on 44's go for some 54's - those rockwells can handle it. Welcome to the boards!

welcome to state brandon, wish i was still up there. where are you living and are you taking the jeep up to state with you? I'm living on campus in a new dorm called Hurst, Hopefully i'll be bringing the jeep up here at some point but i have to find a place to store/wrench on it. I don't think a regular ministorage place will work cause the thing is so damn tall.
