you could draw a line down the middle of the body and replace all of the driver's side floor to be safe. i'm gonna avoid catalog bought floor panels and construct my own from 16 gauge sheetmetal along with new crossmembers. i got a pair of Wagoneer Dana 44s last weekend and am working on the suspension, which will be stock waggy leafs in the front and YJ leaves out back.
I picked up a Chevy 4.3 V6 to use and can't decide on which tranny to go with, but i'm thinking SM465 b/c Novak offers a really short adapter to the Dana 18 case.
Tires will be 35x14.5 Boggers to get it going

here's the Dana 18 case full of sludge. i can't figure out if this is gear oil that has thickened or bearing grease. either way it's gross. here's the new offset rear Dana 44 axle: and the pass. side drop Dana 44:

wow, i bet you were dirty after cleaning that crap out... you gonna use some small square tubing along with that sheet metal for the floor? looks like it needs it, maybe some plexi so you can see your front axle as well...

Looks like you got a lot of work ahead of you. Looks like fun. When are you coming to get your tires? What are you going to do with the tires that are on it? They look to be in decent shape.

yep i was black after that! i'm going to use some C channel to make new crossmembers under the floor and 16 gauge sheet for the floor.
it's definitely going to be a slow process. no need to get in a hurry, but i'm trying to collect all of the necessary big parts ahead of time to make the build go a little easier.
About the Boggers: Louis wants to hold onto his spare until he gets back from Clayton, so I won't get his until then. I have to work in Raymond Saturday and can bring your d-shaft with me if you'd like.

Craig, is it an XJ shaft or did it come off something else?

no, i really don't know what it came off of. i think it's a wagoneer shaft from a quadratrac equipped vehicle. it's got a 1310 CV and 1310 slip on it

It is going to be a great jeep when you are finished. I think you will have one of the best looking trail rigs around. It looked like someone used grease in the diffs because of a possible oil leak for it is an easy fix. All of that grease should have had them in good shape. By the way, if you don't want the jerry can holder and the spare tire carrier, I will buy them from you. I need some like those for my m38a1. I will also buy the original rims and tires if you want to get rid of them.

Clint, I do want to sell the tires and wheels. the tires are dry rotted from sitting up and i suspect they have tubes in them b/c they don't leak air at all. The wheels are in good shape though, just need to be blasted and painted again.
Man I tell you what, the grease has just been a mess! You can't clean it up without getting completely covered.
And thanks, I think it's gonna look good too. At least it'll be different.

Craig, when you were at Hot Springs, did you see the trail guide up there in the flattie? That thing was mostly stock and would walk the dog up just about every trail.

Yeah, we rode and talked with him on FourFingers. Seems like a super nice guy. It is amazing what that flattie will do with 33s.
His Jeep was in a couple of mags. a few years ago.
