Got started on my YJ last week with a Rubicon 4" lift. Before: After: Next on will be 15x8 M/T Classic II's, debating between M/T Bajas and Interco Thornbirds. I know i want to go with 33x12.50's either way. I plan on keeping the stock 6 cyl for now. I'll post some more pics as the project moves along.

There isn't a lot of good press about the Thornbirds. They seem to get bashed everywhere as neither being a good offroad tire nor a good onroad tire. I bought a cheap used set of 33x12.50's for my axle mockup (that's what's in my photos now mounted on 8" wide rims) but I have my eye on some BFG M/T's. The BFG's get pretty good ratings for both onroad and offroad performance. That said, these Thornbirds haven't been out of the driveway yet. I'll let you know how they do.
Jeep goods great with the lift though. It's amazing what a difference a few inches makes.

I had BFG M/Ts for over 5 years and I liked them a lot. They wear great and perform well in all but really wet conditions. They ride smoothly and quietly yet still hook up on rocks better than some. Baja Claws would be a good tire too.

I definitely recommend the BFG M/Ts, Im running some 35s now and they have not let me down on the rocks or the road. In fact, I just pulled a screw out of one, and no leaking. Im not a big fan of the claws, but I like the new tires that Mickey Thompson just came out with, forgot the name of them though...

If you spend most of your time on road, the BFG's or similar pattern will be your best bet. you would have to replace anything from interco yearly. There's nothing wrong with the mud kings you are running now. They are not that much different than the BFG tread pattern other than the maybe the sidewall. I ran 35 Trailblazers for a long time and never had any complaints.

ok, a few $$$ later and replacing every seal/gasket, clutch, brakes, trans. mount, master cyl, radiator, windshield mount lights and 33x12.50 M/T baja claws w/ M/T classic II's everthing is back together and this is the result. [img src="[/img] i152.photobucket.com/albums/s197/mikerob2334/jeep006.jpg"] however, after a run at the playground today my 4wd is not engaging. (guess this isn't a good day to visit the casino). so back to my shop instead of offroad.

Bring it on down to WRF and we'll make quick work of a cage Looks good, I think you made a wise choice on tires, those are a good overall tire.

OK, now that the warm weather is about gone I decided to get the YJ back in the shop. We're taking it completely down, swapping the old 6 for a 350, fab tube fenders, rock sliders, bumpers, roll cage, dash, the works. Below is a pic of the tear down as of tonight. I'll post some more pics as the project moves along. We should have the frame into the paint booth next weekend.

Keep us updated. Those Sahara jeeps are the best looking models in my opinion.
Are you going to do all of the work yourself or do you have help?
