So I picked up a Dana 300 from the SMJC swap meet and plan on doing the Box 4 Rocks doubler from DD Machine. He also makes a shifter setup for a flipped D300 that is pretty cheap. I will take pics as I go and post them up here... I hope to be done by Hot Springs at the end of December. This will put my final crawl ratio to about 111:1... of course I could always throw a 4:1 into the D300 and get 170:1 another cool thing with using the D300, the combo works out to be a little shorter than a stock 231 by itself, and no more chains to stretch or break

how difficult is it to swap a d300 in place of a 231? are you using a bolt on adapter? what about ds angle?

would it be as short as my 231 with the super shorty sye kit on it? it looks like the sye cannot be used in this application... unless they make one for it, but i dont think i can use my sye from the 231 on this kit... can you?

there is no need for a SYE because the D300 doesn't have a slip yoke. the total length is just under 20".

the front face of the TC... where it butts up to the tranny I feel sure the JB SS SYE is going to be a few inches shorter than the 231/D300 considering it is shorter than an Atlas... but well worth it for 3 speed, twin stick, all planetary gears, AND ~ 7:1 ratio

I doubt it would be a problem... but I make my own driveshafts, so a little vibe isn't a big deal to me.. Trevro, what did you do? what did I miss??

This pic shows why it would be hard to do this on a wrangler with a stock or near stock wheelbase: Now if you stretch it, theres no problem at all

Are you changing your front axle to passenger side or flipping the T-case?
