just use the fill plug to drain and the drain plug to fill. I will probably use fittings so I can run the clear tube like an atlas so I can easily check the fluid level...

Brad, this sounds cool. i'm behind on new tech b/c i didn't know anybody was doing this. i'm interested to see how it works in hot springs. i would say 170:1 would be way too low for any kind of wheeling around here where you need wheel speed, unless you drove in low-low and 4th or 5th gear when you need wheelspeed. then you'll blow the transmission.
post up more pics as it comes together

that is what is so cool about the dual cases, knock one in high range and you are back to the stock low of the other one. if you had 4:1 in one case, you could have 1:1, 2.6:1, 4:1, or 10:1 for final ratio of 170:1 without the 4:1, the two individual lows are so close between the d300 and 231 that you probably couldnt tell the difference. the 4:1 would be a later project as I am just going to get it in there first. this project won't be done until after the first of the year. I am going to be scrambling just to get the other fender done and fix a few fuel and vacuum lines.
