It's axles out of a wagoneer right? Can you just order a random year waggy 44 u-joint? Just a thought. I don't know much about 44s. -RC

The smaller ones are a 260 joint. These were in some scouts, jeeps, and other things. The other more desirable joint is a 297 joint. All the manufacturers used these in some thing or another. The easiest vehicle to use would be a 75 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck. They would have used the larger 297 joint.

all the wrangler TJs 97-06 use the 297 as well, or you can get the spicer 760 which is a little stronger, but gotta order them and get them shipped i believe

If you have the 297s, then the axle yokes are smaller than the ones that hold the 760s. You can't just make 297 axles fit 760 u-joints without a lot of work. I don't even know if it's possible to make them fit... Hope this helps. -RC

They should be the same size, The only difference is the cross shaft material. I would definitely say that the Spicer forged series joints are the best ones I've used. The 760 was the best one I used when I was running a Dana 44. Now that I run a Dana 60, I have not broken a joint even though I have broken some outer shafts and hubs. What you are probably talking about one the material on the shafts is if you had to modify stock shafts for full circle rings. But you could ( and should) do this for 760 or 297 joints.

You're right. I looked everything up and it seems I have my part numbers screwed up. It's the 260 series u-joints that are smaller than the 297/760 series. From my research, 760s are the same size as 297s. From NAXJA: For 297/760 series U-joints, this measures 1-3/8" DIA. For the smaller / weaker 260 U-joints, this measures 1-1/8" DIA. Hope this helps. -RC
