Alternator Belt Size?

Can anyone tell me what legnth belt you're running on your alternator....mine is on a 258 with no A/C. I made three trips to the parts house this weekend and STILL don't have the right one. I removed the A/C compressor and went back with the original alternator mounting bracket, but the belt that is supposed to fit is too short. I've got one on it now that has my adjustment all the way out....it's working for now, but squeals a little on "romping".

I had the same problem when I added my york A/C compressor. The only thing I could do was drive it to the parts store and keep trying belts at the store utnil I found the right one. I think they go in 1/2" increments.
