This isnt really a mechanical question, but Im in a jam. After I installed my long arm kit, I noticed that the muffler was hitting one of the control arm mounts near the frame and melting the bushing (not too bad, but annoying). Since Ive been wanting to experiment with exhaust noise lately, I thought, why not just take the muffler and excess pipe off? Well, I found out why not today, after spending about 2 hrs on it and getting nowhere. I tried loosening the nut that clamps the muffler onto the input pipe, and it was rusted so bad that the bolt snapped in half at the base of the nut. I thought I was in good shape then. Well, after a half a can of WD40 and using 4 snatch-a-straps to try to pull the muffler from the input pipe, I got nowhere and gave up. Any ideas out there? I guess I could just cut the pipe b/w the cat and muffler. Maybe next week. See yall tomorrow.

cat? you still running a cat? straight pipe that beotch... lol Those exhaust bolts are a pain in the @$$. I got some pb blaster I will bring over tonight. that works good... just spray it on there a couple of times over the course of a week and they should break loose... or get you a sawzall with a metal blade and chop it.

try a blue tip wrench if you don't have one you can pic one up at any welding supply store. I've found in your particular situation this tool proves itself worth it's weight in gold

hows the noise with the muffler off... my exhaust got hung up on a stump one time and i ended up cutting everything off... you'd go deaf if you took a ride longer than 20 min..

well, i still have the cat on and i cut the factory tip off and welded it right behind the cat, and its alright, not too loud, but it has some popping in it in backflow, not as bad as i thought it was going to though
