Yeah, well I was on my way to G'dale sat. morning, and my jeep started sputtering and I smelled something burning, so I pulled over and popped the hood to find burnt plastic near my fuel line. Apparently I have a leak in the header gasket, and its blowing very hot air up onto my fuel line, and in turn burning the plastic off the wires and the fuel line cover. Its running like crap, and I will have to tear it down and see what the problem is. I hope its just the gasket, but we'll see... I was only 20 miles out of Starkville, so I got Andy to come tow me back. Should I take it to the dealership or just change out the gasket and see if that works first. Could that cause it to sputter? Some of the wires are exposed now, can I just patch them up with electrical tape, or do they need to be replaced?

Did you try running it after everything cooled down? If it was hot enough to melt the wire insulation it could be raising the fuel past its vapor point and not getting a good fuel air mix. If it ran ok after everything cooled down I would reinsulate the wires and of course fix the gasket. If it still was sputtering after cooling down I would start checking more into it.

No, I just welded mine up b/c my warranty was voided when the idiot at the muffler shop decided on his own that he should weld the header to the exhaust pipe instead of getting the clamp to work... Even when its cooled down, as soon as I crank it the hot exhaust immediately starts shooting out heating up everything near it and it sounds like its losing pressure and cant keep a constant rpm.
