yeah, you are right... the stock 700r4 adapter doesn't work on the th350... I am going to try to make one with that 203 adapter... cut a plate with the bolt pattern of the 231, mill off the thickness of the new plate on the 203 adapter and weld the new plate to it... should work right? or would it be easier to try to swap the shaft out on the transmission?

Oh, what you're talking about with making an adapter sounds like it would work well. It would be easier though to swap a shaft if you had to rebuild the transmission already though...Or, I had a mainshaft swapped into the 4R70W in my bronco for around $100 when I swapped it in...Also, that gave the trans. guy a chance to inspect the internals of the transmission.

the transmission I have is freshly rebuilt... I may still consider swapping the shaft if I knew exactly which one I needed. I haven't had much luck searching the web... mostly just turns up adapters for the 231J. Another option would be to use a 241 or a 231J for the front half and use the same adapter you are looking for. I could probably swap out the input from the 231C to make it work with the Jeep case.

I heard back from the guy in the post on pirate...He knows that the factory TH350 adapter to an NP208 will work with the 241C...Those transmission/t-case combos only came in 81 and 82 models though.
