I was looking in a junkyard by my house today at two old '39 Plymouth pickups, and I found an old 2 1/2 ton army truck. The back half had been cut off, the engine and tranny were gone. The only thing left was the front sheetmetal, cab and the rockwell front axle.
What is a good price to offer the guy for the axle? Any ideas?

Depends on how old the truck is. The older ones used Repazza joints for axle shafts and they and not very desirable. I think that around 1970 they went to U-joints. When you see these things for sell, they generally run from $500 to $1500 for a steering axle.

I gave $700 for a repezza style front and a rear a few years ago.
On another note, if you decide not to get it i would be interested in some contact info for the yard, i need a new center section and have been contemplating just getting a whole steering axle to eventually use for rear steer.
