Well I have a story I thought y'all would appreciate. Some and friends and I from work went out to a drained lake near the airport. I had posted it on the upcoming events page for any of you to come if you wanted. As it turns out, several of us went had fun very uneventful until we headed out. We all went out 1 by 1 and there was was a Lowndes Co. deputy waiting on the road to pull us over. I was last out and saw the lights, so I headed the other direction, hit the backroads, and hauled it home. During this time I called one of the ones that had gone out before me and asked him why he didnt call me to let me know a deputy was up there. He told me that I may as well come on back because they knew who everyone was and they had told him I was there as well. I called the others as well and got pretty ticked with them because they had ratted me out. It would have been just as easy, and I would have said "I dont know who the other guy was, and never saw him up close." And we do have permission to be on the land, but I guess mudriding could be considered vandalism. However this was a drained lake with huge dozer ruts and stagnant water standing, so I knew no one would care. I wasnt taking any chances. Now I'm a fugitive. I talked to them a little later, and they told me that they had impounded their trucks. They all said similar but one told me that if he was going down for it I was too. Another even said he was going to hurt me if I didnt come back and share the blame. So I'm extra heated not from getting caught as much as my friends ratted on me.
The next morning I had to be at work at 5am. I showed up and really reamed one of the guys for ratting, and he still stood by what he said. There was to be a meeting discussing what had happened with our manager at 10am, so I waited for the one that said he would hurt me to get there for that. We have several deputies that work around us, and one of them found me at about 8am. He asked if I would step in his office, and I'm thinking, "well here we go." He told me that a USDA guy had seen us and called the director and he called 911 to report us and they caught everybody but me. I had actually seen the USDA truck. Everyone had told him that I was there, he had evidence, and that he needed a statement. For about an hour I was torn between what to do. I could be a man and own up to it, or say no I wasnt there and dont know anything. I could have gotten away with because there was no evidence other than my tracks if they had gone through the trouble, and two witness's putting me there. I have access to the area with my job, and that would explain the mud on my truck. After an hour of him preaching to me and me telling him I wasnt going to give a statement at least until I talked to my manager, he offered to call my manager. He leaves to make the call and comes back with the co worker that turned me in. My co worker then proceeded to tell all, and I was ready to fight. When he finished the officer said "You got three choices. You can tell me you were there, or you werent, or you can refuse to give a statement and I'll arrest you for contempt." At that point I said "Yes I was there." And he said "Well you've just been punked."
There is a lady that works with us who's husband is a deputy for Lowndes Co. She, and the guy that stayed behind at the office while we rode, conspired this whole plan for him to stop us when we pulled out. We would only be scared until he came up to the vehicle because we all would recognize him and know it was a joke. As they were going through he would turn on the lights, scare them, and then tell them not to call anyone so that he could get them to. So I, the butt of all jokes decide I dont want anything to do with the police, and after seeing them from a distance took off the other direction headed home. That gave them more to conspire for the next morning to set up that rendezvous with the other officer. While I was on the run they had me on speakerphone with the deputy there in the background laughing. To further validate their story I had even seen a truck nearby that I thought was the USDA guy, but they didnt know that. To make things worse I also wondered if "MyNameIsMud" was our director. He was the one that responded to my upcoming events post about this ride. He's also about the same age as our director, and I think he has a jeep. So I went in and changed all that stuff around last night. I fell hook line and sinker for the whole thing.
After it had been uncovered I asked them if they realized that somebody was going home with an asswhooping today for ratting.
I was going to get on today and tell "MyNameIsMud" that it was a good thing that you didnt come, but I guess it would have ben a pretty fun joke for you too. Anyway sorry about the length, but I thought yall would appreciate it.
