I done gone and done it now. I broke a tooth off my spider gears in the rear and it was making a terrible clanking noise, so I gave it some medicine with Brads stick welder ;D. I welded the spider gears together in 8 places and then to the carrier. I know, I know, its not good to do this, but I need it to be locked for this weekend and Craigs got an extra carrier and spider gears that I will install when I get back. I just hope my welds hold up. Happy New Year.

I don't think there is one thing wrong with a "Lincoln Locker". Everything that I have wheeled so far has been welded up even the Rockwells under my Bronco. As long as you get a good deep penetrating weld you will have nothing to worry about. The shopping cart axles are welded and I used them for a while under my Bronco with 44" tires and then I sold the axles to a guys that races mud trucks in the delta. He said that he showered those axles with 800 hp and they held up fine. I bought the axles back and the story goes on.

I used the stick welder and it was set on 120, and I used 7018 rods I believe. It looked like the gears were melting pretty good, so Ill keep my fingers crossed.

Well, they busted again today, but Rob took care of them for me so I should be good to go this weekend, hopefully.
