Awhile back we were talking about different springs for the ZJ. I thought I remembered you saying that you could swap the front springs to the rear and replace the front springs from a regular Jeep. Do you remember what year or type of jeep to replace them for a few inches of clearance?
I'm toying with fabbing my own long travel kit for our ZJ with both of my Yota's being down for the time being so I will have something to wheel with.

Yeah I know what you're talking about. You actually put the front springs in the rear and then just buy lifted front springs to replace the front ones. You gain about 4" from what I hear. There's a few posts on it on mallcrawlin.com. They call it a front to rear swap. Something to consider though: When I installed the lift spacers on my ZJ you can tell the coils are really different front to rear. The rear ones have less wraps than the fronts. I'm pretty sure the spring rates are different too. If it were me, I'd just buy 4 new springs rather than swapping coils. The ride and handling will probably be a lot different with the front springs all around. Who knows though. You might like having the front springs all around. I know if you are ever going to tow a trailer with the front springs back there the ZJ is going to sag. Are you going to do longarms on your ZJ? That might get complicated, but it would be cool. There's a few guys on mallcrawlin that have fabbed their own longarms. I'll try to post up a few links later. -RC

Well here are a couple before and after shots of the ZJ after the homemade coil spacer lift. Forgive the crappy after shots, I took em with my phone. Also completely resealed the 4.0 while doing the lift, didn't know a motor could leak oil from so many different places

Finally got the new shoes on the ZJ, didnt turn out all that bad. Now just have to figure out a way to put a tow point in place of that busted cap on the bumper

Thats pretty sweet I've been looking at the mount point of the bumper and been thinking of making something like that. I've got enough scrap steel laying around to do it, just not sure what to do with the airbag sensor (I think its in the bumper at least, haven't researched it that far yet).
