I'm looking to get a high output alternator (at least 100A). I've been scouting out this Load Boss. They also sell on eBay. superpageshosting.com/4alterstartcom/pages/store/skudetail.nhtml?profile=highoutputalternators&uid=10218&returI prefer something local if I ever need the warranty. I am running a winch and plan to add some lights and a basic stereo. What has worked for ya"ll? Also, is there a way to do away with the stand alone starter relay? Maybe with a newer style starter with an integrated solenoid. Or, is it smarter to have that "cheap fail-safe"?

I had a shop in Tupelo build a 200A unit several years ago, and it has worked great. Ask them to build it for the most amperage at low RPMs as possible.
You're from the Jackson area, right? I'd find an alternator shop down there that has a good rep. and get them to build you one. I don't know of anyone in Starkville who builds them. There used to be a guy in West Point who did good work, but he's long gone as far as I know. There's a used car lot on his old place now.

I had that exact alternator on my jeep. It did good. It puts out normal output from 0-2000 rpms, then it jumped up. If you are running KC light or a winch, it is a must. In fact I never had any trouble with it. Just pair it with a good battery, like an optima.

He is a cracker jack when it comes to alternators, starters and winches. I don't buy new alternators anymore I take them to him for rebuilding and upgrading. 662-494-6001 if you need it.

I'm actually originally from Greenville, and I'm running a 1100 CA Interstate battery. Most of the online vendors' HO ones are over $250 and some close to $400. I c'aint touch that! Would the place in Tupelo or the fella in West Point be considerably less than that.

Yeah it should be. I paid $1/amp for mine.
Rob, that sounds like him...my dad always went to him to get alternators rebuilt for the farm.

I could not really tell you what his price would be for that particular situation, but I know that if I take a Delco alternator to him to rebuild it will be half the price of buying one at Auto Zone. Give him a call. I am sure he would not mind throwing a dollar figure at you.
