Hello all, new to jeeps, want to start trail riding in the Jeep in the fall/ winter. I boat all summer, ( at Pickwick ) and ride quads / dirt bikes all fall/winter. But two weeks ago I tore out my knee so I can not ride quads/bikes for ALONG time, maybe never again . I'm 34 and I need to keep my job !! I can not work for 3 months or more !!! so I was thinking the Jeep would be fun , safer than quads. I have a daily driver ( my 3rd vehicle ) a 1995 Jeep wrangler with lift, 33 in on 15x10s with 4:11l gears . I want to trail ride in it, but I do not want to destroy it... I need some daily driver trails.. I have a F 250 PSD and flat bed trailer to haul it on. I just can not destroy it. ( the wife will SHOOT ME !! ) I tore out my knee on my quad, and I'm not getting paid for 3 months so, she is not to happy with me. I live close to Memphis, Tn. Going to ride at Pickwick , Tn next year with a few jeeps from around here. All daily drivers, so nothing crazy for us. Glad I found yalls club/site... Hope i can go on a trial ride soon..... i get cut on my knee on the 21 st, so i'll be out for a couple of months see ya Goochy !

Welcome aboard Most of us wheel our daily drivers... We seem to stay out of trouble for the most part, a broken u-joint here, axle shaft there. Good luck with the surgery, and if you are able to go, you need to meet us up in Gardendale on Jan 7th. We can break you and that Jeep in... ;D It's as much fun watching these other fewls break stuff as it is actually riding.

33's will be fine, all-terrains okay when its not wet. There is not that much really good riding close by. We have a couple places local to Starkville but wouldn't be worth driving from Memphis. There will be a big ride in Feb. in Birmingham at Gray Rock. not sure of the exact dates.

I tore my ACL, MCL, meniscus, cartilage, and bone chip !!!!! so It hurts... I did it on my quad , and last year I broke BOTH wrist riding my dirt bike . My wife says " GROW UP " I am thinking about selling out on the quad /dirt bike and fixing up the jeep some more. I also have a 20 ft enclosed trailer for the bikes, so if I sell out I would have some $$$$$$$$ . But I hate to stop riding quads/bikes...... I want to try jeeps to see if its just as fun. 99rockcrawler, I have a cabin at Pickwick over by Cornith. We go up all the time , every weekend in the summer !! to go boating . I have alot of time off in the summer, so I go to the cabin alot. We are going jeepin over at Burton branch ( across Pickwick Dam ) as soon as the knee heals up. I'll be able to drive a stick in late feb, so I want to go jeepin. The doctor said NO riding quad/bike for 7 MONTHS !! :'(So thats sucks..... I'll post Pickwick trip on here before we go.. Mud fire roads, gravel roads, not much crazy stuff , but lots of trails . About two or three jeeps and maybe a truck or two........ not sure.

Welcome Goochy! I know how you feel about that "grow up" statement. I am a big fan of ATV's, but 4wheeling in Jeeps and such seems to be more conducive to my safety as well as my family. We recently took 4 wheelers to Tellico in Murphy, NC and I am thankful to get out alive and free from injury. I understand that each vehicle is intended for a certain type of terrain, but bottom line for me is safety. It sounds like you have a great foundation to build on with your Jeep and I look forward to meeting you on the trails.

Yea I know where burtons branch is, me and a bunch of friends get about 20 4-wheelers and go up there all the time but we cant go any more because they say they dont want people riding up there anymore. But yea if we can ride up there then I would love to go some time because there is some fun riding going on there.
