Since I bought my ZJ I've been having brake pulses in the pedals associated with warped rotors. When I put my HP30 front axle in, I went ahead and had the front rotors turned. The pads looked fairly new, so I didn't replace them. I noticed a big difference in stopping power and the pulsing died down, but never completely went away. I assume it's becuase I never turned the rear rotors. Well now the pulsing is getting to me and I want to make it stop. Christian says I need to buy all new pads and turn all 4 rotors and the pulsing would go away. He says old pads on newly turned rotors will warp them. Is this true? I have a hard time believing it. I know that you need to turn the rotors when you get new pads, but I never heard of replacing the pads when you turn the rotors. I know HEAT is what warps rotors. Brakes generate heat no matter how new the pads are. What if I just have all 4 rotors turned and leave the old pads on there? Should I replace all the pads too? They still look like they have some mileage left on them. Thanks for the help guys. -RC

My wife's 01 2wd has had similar problems. I replaced the rotors rather than turning them and always replaced the pads. This would fix the problem completely but after 20,000 to 30,000 miles it would reoccur.

My friend is having similar problems on his late model Dakota. He's been getting the dealer to replace the rotors under warranty though. Maybe Chrysler uses crap rotors? -RC
