Alright guys, Rob gave me a great idea. I am going to use my 16 foot trailer and cut off the side rails. What I want to do is keep the fenders because I use this with my job also. But I need to figure some way to make them strong enough to support the Jeep when it climbs over them. And I need to add inches to the sides because my Jeep measure a little over 7 ' across and my trailer is only 6'. I'll take any ideas and also any volunteers to do the welding for me. Thanks Bryan.

When I modified mine I found some 8" wide and 1.5" tall/thick structural building steel - c channel. I welded that all down the side of my trailer. At first I even built it over my wheels, but I failed to leave enough room to upgrade to heavier and better tires. When I wanted to upgrade I just cut the top of the fender off. Right now I am running no fenders on my 16' car hauler. My 40' trailer has fenders built out of pretty thick diamond plate that I just drive over. As far as yours you could have 4 options:
1. Make the fenders removable - use a little ease in cutting the current fenders off and fab some tabs to bolt it on a off. This would become a hassle after a while.
2. Stiffen the existing fender. I have seen some add metal plate to the back side of the fender to support that side and bend some tubing for the outside. I have also heard of others fabbing up 2x6 wood boards on the top and sides of the fenders to stiffen them up.
3. Make a whole new set that is made out of more significant material.
4. Get rid of them altogether (may not be the most legal option, but nobody has said anything to me in 6 years).
I will be glad to help with welding if we could find a time to get together.

Just weld some 4" angle over the fenders 1/4" thick, it works good and looks clean .

1.5" 3/16 box tube over my fenders, holds my heavy jeep up just fine
