OK.. Putting in the waggy 44 front with SOA about 1" springs. what kind of front driveshaft should I get? What are you guys with SOA YJ's running? On the 44, the pinion comes out of the diff. lower than center so it increases the DS angle a bit more. It seems like I got a pretty steep angle. Because of this, I was considering getting a CV? should i get a longer travel one while im at it? If i got a CV, i just point my pinion at the tcase, right?

Jeeps have a longer front driveshaft than most vehicles because the front axle is located further ahead in relation to the motor than most vehicles ( this is also the reason that they climb hills better than other vehicles). For this reason, a CV joint is not really necessary.
As far as rotation of the front axle, the most important issue related to rotation of the axle is the caster angle. If you turn the axle to improve driveline angle, you will mess up the caster angle and probably make the jeep where it won't be driveable on the road at any speed.

Another item is that if you are going to have one made, you may want to get one with a longer slip than stock. A stock driveshaft has about 4 inches of slip. This is not quite long enough for a springover suspension. I actually pulled mine out far enough that it sheared out the splines one time.
I have a 9 inch slip front shaft and it works pretty good. I have never ran out of slip with this one.

yeah... I'm having the knuckles grinded off and set at the right caster.. this is mainly a trail rig so i'm not to worried about vibes. im gonna go with a standard style shaft with long trave splines.. tom woods makes one with like 12" i think and i know a couple of other driveshaft makers custom build them with extreme travel splines even longer. just have to wait till i get my front end in and measure total compression and extension lengths.. thanks
