Rob blew up a transmission and Jason broke a D60 outer and blew up a hub.

The C6 automatic in the Bronco is fried, and I can't tell you guys how exciting that is for me. It would probably bother some that this has happened. For a while now I have been feeling obligated to building a 460 V8 for the Bronco because it will bolt up to my transmission. However, now that this is not an issue i am considering going another route. I am probably going to put something a lot lighter than the Ford 400 that is in it now - maybe a chevy 350 or Ford 302 with a 2wd transmission and divorced transfer case.

Any suggestions are welcome. If you know of any drivetrain parts laying around that could be considered let me know.

When I get to work tomorrow I will upload some pics from Feb. Frenzy to see if I can get them up.

Here are some action shots that I screen captured off of my video camera. The quality isn't perfect since it is a screen capture, but they are ok.

Jason, take notice of the Bents and Dents picture - it is at the exact moment you broke that stub shaft. Also, I was watching the video in slow mo. at Rock Holler and it appears that your front right shaft may have obtained the initial damage there. It is evident that the left tire must have spun about 3 times and the hub that was partially engaged caught up. This may have started the stress on the shaft only for it to break later.

I have made 6 to 8 rides since putting the 60 front in and the shafts that I used were existing shafts that were probably 20 years old. There is no telling what stress had been put on the shafts prior.

I ordered drive flanges and new 35 spline outers today. Hopefully they will hold up for a while.
