I rode yesterday on a piece of property that is fixing to be developed into an offroad park. The local club for Florence, AL (Big River Offroad Klub) was invited on a ride to try things out and give input on the place.
The park is located west of Tuscumbia/Muscle Shoals. It is close to Barton, AL. It would be about 2 hours from Tupelo.
It is 1400 acres and is owned by a Doctor who absolutely loves trail riding. He is very committed to making this work. I talked to him a good bit and he asked me a lot about other parks. His goal is to have a park similar to the Superlift park in Hot Springs, Ark.
And now to the good part. This place is AWESOME. Most of the parks around here are hill climb places with a few rocks. This place is different in that it is Covered with rocks. And the rocks are awesome in that they have a lot of traction. They have similar traction to Hot Springs in that the are poreous.
We rode all day and saw around 10 percent of the park. We had a big group that slowed us down and we also had to cut trees from time to time to help clear out trails.
The Doctor took a lot of video and said that he would put it on U Tube. As soon as I see some, I will link to it.
He plans on opening in May. He doesn't know how he is going to schedule yet but thinks something like every other weekend. He also plans to have big scheduled rides like Grey Rock does. BROK will sponser rides here like CAOS sponsers rides at Grey Rock.
