This was officially announced earlier this week, so I'm attempting to reach everybody nearby and let you know to plan for this date. Here are a few of the details, I'll come back when the rest is announced and let you know more.
The "Kajun Mudfest" will be hosted at the Florida Parishes Arena in Amite, Louisiana on the weekend of March 13-15, 2009. (Amite is located approx. 1 hour North of New Orleans by way of Interstate 55).
This event will feature 2 side-by-side mud racing pits under the covered arena. There will be a stock truck class, modified truck class and an ATV class. We'll also have planned activities for kids, so those with families will find something for everyone!
Entry fees and admission fees will be kept very reasonable and there will be nice minimums on all the cash prize purses, plus trophies. This is planned to be an annual event, so they are trying to encourage as much participation as possible to get it off the ground right!
RV parking is available, with over 30 spots with power/water hookups and acres more where you can park and run your generator. The facility has nice (hot) showers, locker rooms, concession stand, etc, it's top-notch.
Friday night will really be just for arrival and set-up with a "social gathering" and to get ready for Saturday and Sunday races. Each day will be in effect a separate event, so if you can't make the whole weekend, you're welcome to race whichever day you choose. There are also nice permanent grandstands, so if you just want to come and watch that's cool too.
We'll be getting together again after the first of the year to finish hashing out all the details, but contracts are signed and sponsors are coming aboard, so we wanted to let the "cat out of the bag" so you can plan to attend. A website is being constructed too, so you can get all the information easily. I'll be back then with that information.
See ya there!!
