I found this in Tradewinds and couldn't pass it up:
1987 SR5 4Runner, 22RE (blown), 5 speed, 31" BFG A/Ts, also came w/ factory aluminum wheels.
Notice the funk growing on the body after sitting for 5+ years.
The moss that was growing on the running boards is visible in this one.
Ahhh – the smell of rat, mouse, and squirrel urine and feces...the truck was full of it, and the passenger floor board was much worse as was the rear floor/seats/cargo area. I spent $5 vacuuming it out this afternoon, and $10 pressure washing the exterior and underneath.
Notice seat covers. I discarded them and the seats aren't too bad.
Post pressure washing.
According to PO, the engine was blown when his kids tried to go through a ditch and did not know how to shift into 4wd or lock in hubs. They were off camber with an open rear axle and just floored it evidently until the engine blew, or so the story goes. Who knows what really happened. The body has 193K on it; the engine was supposedly built 100 miles before the kids' outing.
Tomorrow, I'm removing the carpet...hopefully the smell and infectiousness will dissipate when complete.
It has the torsion bars cranked all the way up and loooooong shackles on the back. I'll address those issues sometime down the road. I plan on getting new carpet and either fixing this engine or buying a used runner to slip in place of the blown engine to get the 4runner driving and see what else it needs. The tailgate needs attention to get the back window down and the latch working. It also has a couple of dents. Other than the gate, the rest of the truck is dent free. The paint isn't very good on the rest of the truck, and the top seal leaks. I may paint it later on, staying with the factory color.
