Anyone have connections with auto. salvage auctions? I'm looking at a GMC w/ a 6.0 and want to know how much I could expect to pay. The truck is hit pretty bad on the passenger side only. Here's a pic:

hey craig, I nearly bought a running and rolling s-10 2.9?? the other day from a salvage yard for $350. It had been hit comparable to this one on the drivers side. The frame was only slightly bent, and the front axle and wheel assy was not hit like that one. It was 4x4 and the transmission worked fine. As it was it was definitely not roadworthy but my brother and I thought we could make a pretty good farm truck out of it.
I have unfortunately had to sell a few wrecked cars to different junk yards in Atlanta, Birmingham, and Starkville, and I know that no matter the condition they seldom give more than $200 for them.
They also acquire a lot of them for free because people would rather just give them the title than pay the parking/holding fee from the few days after the wreck. Most of them get I think $10 a day that they keep the car and it doesnt take long until the wrecked car is not worth it. This is why when I have a wreck, I have the tow truck tow it to my house! At least then you can get the scrap prices for it!
I'm a cheapo though. I only paid $500 for my daily commuter Samurai, and $1000 for my wife's daily commuter. And I do not carry full coverage! So take it or leave it, but I hope that helps a little.
My bet: $450 at auction. Let me know how close I got!
