Now for the true Jeep enthusiast trivia question of the day.
Does anyone know the stock ride height of a CJ5? I'm in the process of doing a temporary swap of my tub to the frame/axles on my parts CJ (79 Renegade) and it now seems like it sits higher than before. Could be the fact that I fixed a few rusted out body mounts, but it also appears to have military wrap springs. Also, the Renegade has more leafs in the pack than the original 78 CJ has.
Any ideas?

I don't know that actual ride height, but i bought a 75 CJ5 once that had a few rusted body mounts. After I fixed them it looked like I had put a 2" body lift on it.
I would imagine that fact that the Renegade has more leafs and military wrapped that the spring have held up better from sagging. I knew a salesman that used to actually sales the CJ5s new. He could tell even after a test drive that the CJ5 with the V8 would come back with a sagging spring on the driver's side. I am sure they weren't military wrapped and had a soft spring pack. I am sure that if I test drove a new Cj5 with V8 I would have to step on the skinny pedal a bit.

Whew! Finally got the CJ running again on the Renegade frame. Still got some more work to do to the V8 but it runs ok just low power (cuz I know what you mean Rob about stepping on the pedal a little). After fixing the rusted body mounts (man what a mess that was) and making my own mount kit out of some rubber belting material, I think I ended up with about 1.5" of body lift. Now that the full weight of the body sits on the frame, it sits about 23" from top of frame just behind the front bumper to the ground. That's about 1.5" higher than the old CJ frame. I guess that's too little to consider a lift so Rob you're probably right about the sagging (or lack of). With the extra leafs, it definitely has a stiffer ride. Thanks for the help.
