It should be a good project. What model is it, and what kind of motor does it have. I have a 57 truck that looks just about like it. My truck has the super hurricane flat six.

My grandad used to have one identical to that one. Same color and everything. I wish he wouldn't have sold it. I think he sold it to somebody up in your neck of the woods.... hey, does it have a dog box in the back of it and the radiator in the back seat?

I traded for it in Aberdeen. It had been sitting behind this mans house for a while.I beleive he said he traded a motorcycle for it.There is no dog box and no backseat.I now need a donor vehicle for a drivetrain .Any suggestions??

Do you still have the old wagon Brian? I am going to start workin on my truck like this in a day or two. The old six in my truck is seized, so I found another frame with complete running gear in the junkyard today. It has a good engine so I am just going to swap engines and hopefully have the old truck running again. I will take a few pics during the engine swap.
Have you made any progress on the wagon? If you need any extra parts I may have a few, but I am sure you are not going original.

All progress has been halted for a little while.I wish I had known you needed a motor .The super hurricane 6 in my wagon is "supposed " to be a good running motor ,but I would work the valves a rings before I put it under any stress.I have a couple of priority projects I'm working on right now but I am itching to get to that old wagon .Shoot some pics of that truck for me .

The engine I found was very easy to spin by hand. Yesterday I took off the manifolds and pulled the side cover to expose the lifters and valve springs. Two valves were stuck in the open position. Well after a lot of pb blaster and spinning the engine by hand the valves are all working freely. Also to increase compression on an engine that has been sitting a while, I poured some automatic transmission fluid into each cylinder. Now with all of the plugs installed, man it is like a different engine, very hard to turn.
Try that on yours. Take off the side plate and spin the engine to make sure all of the valves are closing.
Also is your wagon still on a 6 volt system. If it is, and if you have tried to start it, does it turn slow when cranking? And have you thought about converting it to 12 volts.

Finally had a chance today to work on the truck again. I got the old engine out. Instead of just swapping sixes I am tempted. I was thinking of adding a couple of cylinders. Are there any bellhousing adapter kits for a 350 to the old jeep three speed trans? It would probably be best to change trans and all though.
For right now I may just leave it stock. I still need to clean the gas tank, flush all of the lines, and fix the brakes. So I still have a good way to go.
