I know we have talked about building a ramp. We need to get some funds together. I think I can build us one. I have been looking at them on the web. I have an idea of making one so we can pull it to location. Any thoughts?

okay, this is what I have on the note pad... 20 degrees bottom is 103.4, 37.62 high and 110 long. That gives a possible max score of 1183. should be plenty.

That is not nearly tall enough. Half the jeeps in our club would drive off the top of that. Last ramp contest we had there were several jeeps that topped out at 42-46" vertical height. When we built our ramp we went 30 degrees and put the heigh at 5'. You got to go taller.
I'll find a picture of Jason for you.

I was thinking of a 30 deg ramp. Making it 7.5 feet high. That gives it a running distance of 177.6 I know no jeep has a wheelbase that large, but some pickups do. This would make it ok for an extremely modified rig. Please give me all sugestions. I will draw up any plan on autocad for everyone to see.

A 7.5' tall ramp would be way too big. I think the normal ramp angle is 23 degrees, but for very highly modified rigs (which our club has none so far) 30 degrees is a good angle. I think we need to make a 25 degree ramp, make it 5.5' tall. Heres the specs on it: 25 degrees base = 141.54" height = 66" ramp length = 156.17"

Now don't go to crazy with that thing. You still have to be able to transport it. I would recommend a swing away axle at the tall end and a 2" receiver hitch at the bottom so you can lift it and set it on your ball to move it around. Those ramps never stay in the same place long and they are so big and heavy one person can't move it. It will serve you well to make it mobile right of the bat so you can take full advantage of it.

I was planing on making it towable. The size is just the size I have seen alot of them online. Even though we do not need one that size, we need something to strive for!

I like this ramp: this ramp is built from 2.5"x2.5"x1/8" boxed tubing, the cross pieces are made from 2"x2"x1/4" angle iron.

hey guys, I got a hold of 2 pieces of 1.5"x3"x13' steel rectangular tubing... a piece that is 9' long... It's a start. may also get a hold of 2 15' pieces... not sure about that yet. we could turn it up on end for the main part of the ramp... or it could make a pretty stout base. I should get it either this week or next.
