rsmith, What are the chances of us being able to make something like this?? These mount to the body and oh yeah, cost $500. I dont have $500. Is this doable. I do have money, just not that much. So you let me know if you have time, ablility, willingness and how much it might cost. THanks much.

toyrunner,
Sorry I haven't posted sooner. With school starting and other obligations time has been tight. These can certainly be made and I would have a hard time paying $500 for them myself.
At the moment I have a lot of irons in the fire, but soon I will host an after school program with my students and this is when we work on projects like this. We have done things from install York OBA to rebuilding motors. We have a 302 Ford engine out of a Bronco that is waiting on us to rebuild as soon as we start our program.
Holler back at me in a few weeks and we will see what we can do.

Hey, I have an idea... How about a project installing a roll cage in a 95 wrangler? lol ;D No, but seriously, are these classes something somebody like me could sit in on and learn something? By the way, how was your Tellico trip rsmith?

Muddawg, There is a night class offered by the Technology center that I work for. It is a basic welding class and starts with basic stick welding and covers MIG and TIG welding as well. I took the class myself and it helped me brush up on a lot of skills even if you know how to weld. There is about an hour of classroom time and about 20-25 hours of welding/lab time. The next class is starting after Labor Day. It is 2 weeks long 4 nights a week. I was able to build the 3 link suspension for the rear of my Bronco during this class. The instructor will allow you to bring projects in. The cost is $75 and you will receive a basic welding certificate. For more information call 662-494-6176 ask for Carolyn. There are about 6 signed up now and he will only accept about 13. I will sometimes help him if the class load is large. Of course, if someone were building a roll cage I would have to be there. ;D The Tellico trip last weekend was ok. I ended up taking my Polaris 500 along with 2 other 4 wheelers. I realized that this was absolutely not for me. I did trail 2 with a 4 wheeler it is was the most work that I have ever experienced in all of my life. I flipped mine over 3 times backwards on top of me. Never have I been so sore the next morning. I am definitely from now on going to stick to my Jeep or Bronco. The Polaris is going back to what it was originally intended for - deer hunting. I can't believe how huch the trails have changed in 2 years since I have been there last. Trail 2 and Rock Garden almost made me soil my britches . I imagine that this is mainly due to mother nature, but fuel injection and people running golly whopper tires have helped as well. rsmith

That rock garden on lower 2 was more than enough to turn me, Craig, and Garrett around. WOW

Maybe not a roll cage first...but maybe some rocker skids or a tire carrier...
