Brad P. and I went to the scrap yard today and found some great stuff for the RTI ramp project. We just need to collect some funds and go pick it up. Anybody that has a trailer and/or pickup we could use let me or Brad know. If anybody would like to $donate$ to the cause, that would be great too. We need to get over there to pick this stuff up ASAP before it is burried under a pile of crap! It will be really nice to get this thing built so we can draw some more attn to the club.

I have a bunch of 2 inch tubing that I could donate for a ramp. I probably have enough that the only thing that would be needed is the grating for the floor of the ramp. ( and the axle if it is to be very mobile).

Hey, that would be great! I am sure we could find an axle and make something work for the grating. We just need to figure out a good place to lay it out and start building! We could do it at my place, but it wouldn't be covered. Not that it will really take all that long to build.

not quite sure yet... we still need to locate an axle of some sort... I might know where I can get one off an old boat trailer.... let me do some checking. Whenever we get all the materials and get them in one place, we can start the first free weekend. Hopefully it will be soon.

I am going to Charlie Peay's soon to get an axle to make a 4 wheeler trailer to pull behing my Jeep - possibly Saturday if plans don't fail. I am planning on using an axle out of the rear of a Dodge Caravan. Brad, let me know if your boat trailer falls through and I will see about picking 2 of these axles up.
I also have a truck and trailer is assistance is needed in picking stuff up.

Yeah, go ahead and pick up 2 of them if he has another if you don't mind... and also be on the lookout and let me know if he has a third one... I need a trailer axle for a little project I have going on over here. The boat trailer axle I was thinking of is so old that it would have to be rebuilt and would probably be cheaper to just grab one out of the yard.

I checked on the axles for the ramp. I got there too late in the afternoon Saturday to pull them out. Charlie wants $50 for the solid axle and tires. I spotted about 5 Dodge caravans so they are definitely plentiful. I won't be able to get back over there until next week after the Toys for Tots ride.

Lets get this ramp started already, so I can outramp all of you !!! ;D I'll take that challenge. I don't have a problem showing any TJ how well leaf springs work. As far as the axle goes, we may can build it light enough that it can be loaded on a trailer and carried to wherever it needs to go.

I still think we should make the ramp towable since one person could pretty much set it up... we could start the ramp and then add the axle later as long as we figure for it when we build it. Rob, let me know when you are going out to the yard and I can come help... I need to pick up one of those axles as well. I checked on the boat trailer and you could buy a new axle and hubs out of northern tool for what it would take to fix it up....
