you can go two ways, either west on 82 through greenville and up through pine bluff or up to Memphis and to little rock and down... not much difference in time ive tried both, through greenville and up through pine bluff seemed a little quiker i'll be coming from jackson though

through greenville may be a little quicker, but the first time I went that way, I got behind a house boat on the 2 lane part.... grrr

I am working hard on getting my 2 ton truck ready for a road trip. This should give me the abulity to drive the buggy onto the flatbed and pull my fifth wheel camper behind it. If it does work out, I will only be able to drive about 60 mph. If that doesn't work out then I will pull with my 1 ton and tent camp.
Bryan - I am not sure of the pull out time. I am going to wait for further developments to occur and see if there will be a slower caravan in route. My 2 ton will only get about 6-7 mpg so a I may have to stop a few times. I have a 45 gal tank I am working on installing.

i think that camping is available at the orv park if im not mistaken. the hotel room is $36/night for 2 people, $46/night for 4 people... so pretty cheap

camping is available with hookups for campers and showers and restrooms for tent campers... the hotel isn't far either. the parking isn't great at the hotel for trailers, but that depends on how many people are there... you can't go all the way around.

Rob,I pulled my TJ behind my half ton truck for the first time last week.I am probably going to be part of the slower caravan too.I don't see that I will be setting any land speed records.Getting it going is OK,but stopping is where the fun is.And we might need a syphon hose.

I was looking at the web site for Hot Springs and was wondering about a few equipment requirements they have. The first was for "recovery points (not welded)". Does this mean that my eyelets for D-rings that are welded on my bumber won't do? (they ain't gonna come off, trust me). And the other is on the pdf of the trail map. It says "fully enclosed metal cab or roll cage system required". Now I don't have a cage "yet" only the stock roll bar on the CJ, but I wasn't planning on doing any agressive stuff anyway and I'm slick with the other requirements. Is there gonna be someone standing there giving an inspection or what? I would sure hate to tow the CJ to be turned around at the gate, especially since I'm only gonna get one day of wheelin in anyway.

I'll plan on camping just to save money, but honestly if it's 30F or colder out, I ain't gonna be in no tent. Call me a pansy, but I'll fork out the extra few bucks for a warm bed in a hotel. Maybe I have some friends in Little Rock...Hmmm. I need to check on that, hah. I'm excited about wheeling with everyone. Every summer I've been unable to go to the Tellico trip. I've heard stories about crazy Rob and his bronco/buggy. Can't wait to watch it. -RC

I bet they put the rules up there to keep the scary unsafe stuff away. I'd also bet that there isn't a tech inspection either, although I could be wrong. They just have to cover their butts in case someone gets hurt.I'd imagine that the stock cage on your CJ would be sufficient. It's probably not ok to show up in a CJ without any cage. Might want to call about the tow points though. I see they also have a helmet rule and no passengers for driving ATVs, but I bet neither is enforced. I'll be wearing mine anyway in case roll though! -RC

you will be fine with your tow point and stock cage. 90% of the rigs there have welded recovery points, and there are plenty with stock cages. they actually do enforce the helmet rule and passengers on atv's... they have helmets for rent at the office for people who don't have one
