well, i have ambivalent feelings about the bronco. part of me wants to cry and the other part is happy because i have an excuse to build it the way i should have a year ago. oh yeah, and part of me feels like beating my head against the wall. option #1 is to fix it back like it was. i think it would run about 1500-2000 if i did everything myself. or option #2 i can have 1 ton stuff under and re-do my suspension, narrow the body, etc... for about 1000 more. then i'd basically have the monster garage bronco, because that's pretty much what i want. the good news is my foot isn't broken, only bruised, and the parents weren't too upset about all of this. give me some input, insults, encouragement, slander, just keep the thread going. i want to hear what you guys think. by the way, i still had a blast this weekend. 4wheeling is one of the best things out there. i'm about to get all warm and fuzzy here, but it really does bring people together. and i appreciate that. thanks for everyone's help all weekend, and garrett wear your seatbelt next time:)

Well, since you did it, i will get warm and fuzzy. After what happend and knowing what could have happened, I am just glad that you and Garret are ok. Litterally walking away with just a bruise is a miracle.
I think you should build it from the ground up. Just dont paint it the same color as the monstor garage bronco...maybe speedliner. But for real, I am glad yall are ok.

Craig I too want to say that I enjoyed the weekend even if it was "cut" a little short for me. I will have a spare next time I ride. It is great to know there is local group that enjoys this sort of riding with a passion. I too am thankful that you are ok from the rolllover. That should be a lesson to all of us how important a cage and seatbelts really are. Thankfully you had that forethought. As far as the Bronco, I say build it up. First of all, you already own it. Secondly, you have a very good foundation to start with. The frame being boxed in as it is has proven to me to be very stable. It doesn't seem to be showing stress cracks as bad as the 3 CJ's that I have owned in the past. The absolute only problem that i have had is seeing that passenger front tire, you know the one that got cut this past weekend. When we were going up and down in Grayrock canyon I had absolutely no idea what was in front of me when we would go up over a terrace and back down. Thankfully I have big enough tires that I don't have to worry about where I am going. Within the next month or so I hope that I can tell you how well a 460 sits between the frame rails. Maybe we need to experiment with narrowing my front grill and hood to see how it will work out for you. I got no problems with taking the sawzall to mine ;D As far as fixing it back up original I just think you would be dissatisfied in the future. As it goes with nearly every project that I have worked on you will never get your money back out of it. If a Bronco is not what you want to ride I would suggest selling it as is before you sink another couple of grand into it. Jeeps are a dime a dozen on the trails, and rightfully so they are very capable rigs. However, wheeling an old Bronco will draw some attention to see something different. Jeep guys please don't get take that the wrong way. I love Jeeps and still cannot live without one as i have a CJ7 in my shed that I am very proud of - rust and all! Speaking of variety, I thought it was very fitting to pass that guy with the brokedown Toyota truck that said "Don't Barbie's drive Jeeps?" Looks as if he needs some axles that are made for something other than "Toys" Just my $.02 worth. Rob

well i would like a jeep, but rob you are right. i already own this one and they are really cool to see out on the trail. jeeps are a dime a dozen. i still love my bronco and i've had the plans in my head for a long time to make it big, so i guess i can go ahead and build it now

well i got a line on a dual fuel propane set-up for the bronco today. a guy here in starkville hooked me up with one of his buddies in sulligent, al, and said he'll probably give the system to me. that's good news, and all i have to buy is a tank, lines, and an adapter for my carb. guess i'll be swapping to propane soon.
i'm thinking about many different things for suspension. 1. bronco coils front and rear with radius arms 12-18" longer and heim joints at the rear of the arms 2. all pro offroad long travel leaves front and rear. these things give toyotas crazy flex. it's comparable to what you guys get from your TJs coil suspension. this would be easy and relatively cheap at $600 for all four. 3. s-10 leaves in the rear and the extended radius arms in front. if i keep the radius arms they will be extended with the heim joints. this will free up 6-8" of travel in the front end. then bolt on longer shocks and get ready to rock.
i'm going to stretch it to somewhere bet. 100-110" depending on the front crossmember to axle clearance. i looked this afternoon and it seems there's only about 6 inches of room to go foward in the front.
give me input guys! tell me i'm stupid, crazy, or brilliant. i want to hear it along with other suggestions.
