hey, I'm about to put my leaf springs on top of my axles, and was wondering if someone with some welding equipment would be interested in helping me build the four spring perches one morning. It's basically a box about 2"x4" that fits around the top of the axle. It's the same perch that's mounted to the bottom, and I have a separate axle that can be used for a template. It should be a pretty simple job.
Tomorrow I am going to see if I can scrounge up some scrap metal and possibly attempt to do it myself. By the time I get my ancient welder located and set up, and realize once again that I am not a welder, somebody with a little know how and the right equipment could have done it several times.
I will do the installation myself. Some time in the near future. I'm trying to do as much cheap stuff as I can so I can afford some tires when the time comes, but I would be glad to pay something or trade out time on your rig.
If I wind up getting it done I'll post it. Thanks Caleb

I have a 220 stick welder. I'm sure I can weld your spring perches on the axle. Where do you live in Starkville? I live in Highlands Plantation (near the Waffle House on 182). I'm all for helping someone out since a lot of people help me out. I won't charge. It would be no big deal to weld those perches on. You free Saturday? Do you want to bring them by sometime then to weld? I should be around the house most of the day. Let me know. -RC

I live on Scales street 409 is the house number. I am free on Saturday morning untill 12pm. I still have to fab the perches, so I'll have to let you know if that is done and my axles are off by Saturday. This afternoon I'm going to try to get them made, so I'll let you know something. Thanks a lot!

It's just too dog gone cold! I'm getting the perches made on schedule, but I'm not going to be able to get the axles off by tomorrow. It may have to wait until next weekend. I'll let you know if anything changes. Thanks again

I got the perches made, but I talked to someone and decided to get extended brake lines as well as a 1" drive shaft extension. So it will be a week or so before I'm ready to take the axles off. It is my daily driver.
