Allright guys, I just got a new (old) toy and I am ready to try it out. We need to get a ride together somewhere and soon. I have kicked around the idea of Hot springs around spring break time. Any other suggestions?? Rob, are you ready to try that trailer out?? Craig, have you settled on a rig yet???Lets get it going guys. I haven't been anywhere in a while and I am itching(could be from wearing insulated underwear all day ) to go . All you new guys speak up. Lets stir up some dust and rocks .

I'm working on getting rigs shuffled around...post up some more pics of the new toy. You going to keep the 2.5L or swap in something else?

I removed my seats over the holidays which "inspired" me to do some body work and take care of some rust issues. I'm trying to resist the urge, though, to take it further than I really need to right now. I'd like to make a Hot Springs trip sprink break, but I gotta to out of town on business the 15th for a week. Are ya'll thinking about all week or just to make one of the weekends a long one? If you were thinking about maybe Sat - Wed or Thurs, then I might could go. I've also noticed the park in Fulton has updated calendars for Feb and March and I'd like to go to Grayrock too.

My plans are to run the 2.5 until I can find a 4.0 L to build into a stroker motor. Its almost a direct bolt up and it will have plenty of horse power. Contrary to what Rob says I don't get on the skinny petal that much so I think that this combo will work pretty good. Any input? Jim, I will be pretty pressed for time so most of mmy trips are going to be long weekends anyway. I am definatley going to try fulton out as soon as I get a trailer wide enough to put the the YJ on .

won't you have to change to at least an ax-15 and 6cyl. NP231 to handle the power?

It has the 231 and isn't the ax-15 the stock 5 speed?

the 2.5L came w/ the ax-5 and 21 spline input NP231, IIRC. A 6 cyl. NP231 will have a 23 spline input. I think the bolt patterns are different on the two engines, that's why I brought this up. Someone else with firsthand knowledge care to offer an opinion?

No idea about the 4/6 cyl issue.
Since my plans of going wheeling this weekend were shot down due to Grayrock and Fulton being closed; I am hoping to regroup for a late Feb. run. This is probably better since I really should give my rig a very thorough once over (check case and dif fluids, u-joints, re-bleed brakes and such). If ya'll plan to go somewhere later (in March), I'll wait till then. I went back home this past weekend and got the trailer that I use to haul my Jeep, so I'm ready!

I would be in for a day or maybe long weekend ride in Feb. and a more serious trip in March around spring break. We have ruled out going snow skiing this spring break with the hopes or taking a good 4-5 day wheeling/vacation trip.
A quick fix in Fulton soon would tide me over to spring break.
BTW, my buggy is semi inoperable right now. I blew a tire off the bead in Hot Springs over Christmas holidays. That was the sign that I was needing to build some beadlock wheels. I have started cutting the centers out of my wheels and will be narrowing the width 5" with more backspacing and adding weld on beadlocks. I will probalby do one wheel at a time in case a little trip comes up soon. Keep the discussion going and maybe we can drum something up.

Mar 14-16 Morris Mountain will be hosting the Sham-Rock Run '08. I am trying to get a few together from CAFB4X4 to make the trip. Hopefully I will have the motor in my 4runner finished if not we will see about taking the ZJ, I will have my home made 2.5" coil spacers installed by tomorrow. Would anyone be interested in making that trip?

Cool, that kinda plays in my favor also. Got something else up your sleeve? Yeah a couple of things. I've just got to figure out how to slip them in with my very slow progress of my own house building .

I'd like to go to Summertown some time in February. I have never been and have heard mixed reviews. I want to go and develop my own opinion of the place.
